Description
Introduction:
Interact Club of Yala hosted a free dental check-up camp, sponsored by the Rotary Club of YALA in collaboration with Oradent Dental Clinic. We came up with this event’s idea by focusing on the government school, as the students from there are underprivileged and for them getting access to dental care is difficult. So we centered our area of focus
on dental wellbeing.
Objectives:
1. To provide basic dental check-ups free of cost to the students of Navajoti Lower Secondary School at Godawari.
2. Provide supplementary dental care items like toothpaste and toothbrush.
3. To promote ICYALA among the masses.
Project summary:
Under our community service project, the “Free Dental Check-Up Camp” was successfully completed. Our board of directors and our members reached the venue Navajoti Lower Secondary School at around 10:30 AM. After we reached there we arranged the set up for the camp on the ground and gathered all the materials needed with the help of the welcoming staff of that school. We hung the banners of our camp on the wall and made the toothbrushes and toothpaste ready to be distributed. We had already requested the school management to systematically bring the students one grade after another.
After the arrival of our team of dentists from Oradent the
Dental Clinic, we started our camp at 11 AM. 3 of the dentists examined the students who were in a queue, individually turn by turn, and made them aware of their dental problems. After the examination, we volunteered to keep a record of their names and provided them with toothpaste and toothbrush to encourage them to take care of their teeth.
We were able to carry out a check-up of around 200 participants including students and teachers, and the teachers were so supportive, they were monitoring the students by themselves and were concerned about what type of supplementary items we were distributing to their students. At around 12 AM the camp ended after which we gave a token of love to our team of dentists and our guest Rtn. Twinkle Nyachhyon individually.
Conclusion:
Our motive was to help the government school children have access to basic free dental check-ups and we opened away for them for further treatment and check-ups, ensuring a lasting impact of our small effort for preventing dental diseases. Among the 200 students, if we can solve the dental problems of only 5% of students then, that is also a great success for us. We could spread smiles because of which this event was happy and successful event.
