Introduction
The District Sports Meet & Zonal Exchange is the major fellowship and leadership development event. The zonal exchange offers opportunities for participants to flourish their Interact bonds, communication skills and fellowships with the interactors from different zones of Interact District 3292, Nepal & Bhutan. The sole purpose of District Sports Meet is to develop leadership, creative and teamwork skills in interactors through various games and sports like football, basketball, badminton, Athletics, etc. and share new ideas among interactors along with enthusiasm and many interactive sessions and activities. The event also develops sportsmanship among the emerging leaders with young energies.
Project Summary
This year The Interact District planned to take this legacy to the city of lakes, Pokhara. On the very first day, the participants arrived at their pre-assigned hotels, where they would stay for the event. Then the opening ceremony was conducted after lunch. Hosted by Ms. Riyaj Nepal and chaired by District Interact Representative Itr. Bipin Subedi, there was the delightful presence of District Governor Elect of RI District 3292, Nepal & Bhutan Rtn. Rajendra Pd. Dhoju as the chief guest. We had District Interact Committee Chair Rtn. Arjun Shrestha, District Rotaract Representative Rtr. Laxman Kharel, District Interact Representative Elect Itr. Biplob Thapa, Assistant Governors, Rotarians, Rotactors and Past District Officials of Interact District 3292- Nepal & Bhutan as our guests. After the national anthem followed by a rotary anthem followed by prayers for world peace, the event was officially inaugurated by DGE Rtn. Rajendra Pd. Dhoju by watering a plant as a gesture to the environment. DIR Itr. Bipin Subedi gave the thematic pins to the Zonal Interact Representatives as a gesture for Zonal Exchange after the Trophy for the Winning Zone was revealed by the chief guest, DG.
Itr. Binod Neupane, District Chief International Relation Officer and Co-Chair of the event gave his remarks and presented about the District Sports Meet & Zonal Exchange. There was a dance performance from the Host Club Interact Club of Pokhara Lakeside. Then District Governor Elect, District Interact Committee Chair and District Rotaract Representative gave their remarks and wishes for the event. Rtn. Rajendra Dhoju conveyed the message representing the District Governor. The sponsors and guests were honored with a token of love and appreciation. The ceremony ended with a Vote of Thanks from Itr. Gaurav Neupane, District Sergeant-At-Arms of Interact District 3292- Nepal & Bhutan.
After the Opening ceremony Chess was played among the players representing their respective zones. Second day was completed with the phenomenal games of Badminton (Boys & Girls) and Basketball (Boys) between the teams of different zones. Fellowship games of basketball between the girls of Zone 3 and Zone 6 and musical chairs were played as a part of Zonal Exchange.
On the third day Athletics (100m, 200m & 400m races) and Futsal were played among the teams representing their Zones. After all games were played, the award ceremony and closing ceremony was conducted in the chairmanship of DIR.
During each game, there was a point system according to which the top 2 and top 3 players/teams were marked, and a winning zone was selected according to the points that were obtained for each game. Getting the points and winning the various games, Zone 3 was successful to get highest points and was thus awarded as the Winning Zone. The winners and the winning teams were awarded with certificates and medals. The participants were given certificates of participation. The technical supporters, helpers and the organizing committee were recognized and honored with a token of appreciation. The Closing remarks were given by Itr. Bishal Chapagain, ZIR of Zone 3 and Co-Chair of the event.
Event Review
The event ran smoothly; there were some technical problems during the event but the organizing team of district officials solved them thoroughly. The guidelines, norms and values of Rotary were strictly followed. The participants were safe and enjoyed the event, gave positive feedback and were happy with the District. The event was praised by the Rotarians, Rotaractors, Sponsors and supporters.
The District Sports Meet & Zonal Exchange was a huge success. With the joint efforts of District Officials, Sponsors, Advisors and the participants, Interact District 3292- Nepal & Bhutan was able to create a history and set an example of what the youth of today is capable of.
