
Many people ignore their symptoms because they are afraid of being stigmatized. Nearly 60% of people with mental illnesses did not seek treatment last year. With this event, we hoped to raise participants’ awareness of their mental health.

Introduction:
On the third day of Interact Week, keeping one of Rotary’s areas of focus in mind, Interact Club of GoldenGate Int’l College in collaboration with Interact Club of AIMS English Secondary School, Interact Club of Orient A Level, Interact Club of Matribhumi Balwatar and Interact Club of Tripureshwor with Mr. Shantanu Sharma as guest speaker, organized a session on ‘How to Calm Our Mind’.
Objectives:
To promote awareness on the topic of mental health and how to achieve and maintain mental peace on the tumultuous teenage life.
Project summary:
On 2nd November 2022, celebrating Rotary’s area of focus ‘Disease Prevention and Treatment’, Interact Club of GoldenGate Int’l College in collaboration with Interact Club of AIMS English Secondary School, Interact Club of Orient A Level, Interact Club of Matribhumi Balwatar and Interact Club of Tripureshwor organized a session on ‘How to Calm Our Mind’. As we, interactors are in the tumultuous teenage life, we found that it is important for us to learn about mental health and how to maintain mental peace. For this purpose, we invited Mr. Shantanu Sharma to educate us on matters of mental peace and how to achieve and mantain it. Mr. Shantanu Sharma told us about his mental health journey and taught us the art of living. He held a long and extremely fruitful Q&A session taking the questions from the attendees and answering them. He answered our questions, which were something we experience in our daily lives such as how to maintain time management, how to focus on task, how to cope with depression, how to help a friend cope with depression etc.
Conclusion: Overall, the session was extremely beneficial for all the attendees and we feel it achieved its objective of promote awareness on the topic of mental health and how to achieve and maintain mental peace on the tumultuous teenage life.
