Introduction:
World Interact Week is celebrated every year during the week of 5th November to commemorate the founding of the first Interact club in 1962. This year, the Interact Club of Tri-Ratna Kathmandu Midtown celebrated the World Interact Week from 31st October to 6th November by conducting different events on different days and with a good number of participants.
Rotaract Club of Kathmandu Mid-Town supported to conduct different events on different days while participating in one of the event initiated by Interact Club of YALA which was jointly organized with other Interact Clubs. All of the evets are service oriented and related to profession development.
Objectives:
1. To celebrate World Interact Week
2. To engage interactors in the event
3. To make bonds with other Interact Clubs
Project summary:
Interact Club of Tri-Ratna Kathmandu Midtown celebrated World Interact Week by conducting different events during the week.
Day 2: The theme of the day was “Peace and Conflict Prevention” and 4 of the interactors made a poster with peace signs and a message of conflict prevention and this poster was also presented in their class.
Day 3: The theme of the day was “Disease Prevention and Treatment” on which, the board members gave a short session on Breast Cancer, its signs and symptoms and prevention of breast cancer to their classmates. They also wore self-made oink ribbons as a symbol of breast cancer awareness. Around 20 students were present in that session along with few teachers as well.
Day4: The theme of the day was “Environment” on which, the interactors conducted tree plantation program inside school premises. Interactors along with teachers actively participated in the program. All of the participants brought one plant from their home and planted it in the school premises. Around 30 tree plantations were done.
Day 5: The theme of the day was “Maternal and Child Health” on which the interactors conducted an online webinar on “Importance of Maternal and Child Health”. The session included how to take care the mother and child, maternity care, children’s care, immunization schedule and common problems that can occur in that phase and its prevention. The session was facilitated by Rtr. Dibya Sharma and 15 interactors participated in that webinar. Also, on that day, the interactors gave a short session on Breastfeeding and its importance in their class. Around 20 students were present in that session.
Day 6: The theme of the day was “Basic Education and Literacy” on which, the interactors wrote an essay on Basic Education and Literacy which was posted in their social media sites.
Day 7: The theme of the day was “Economic and Community Development”, in which, the interactors made a poster introducing Bungamati Village, their lifestyles, occupation and visiting places of Bungamati village and handicraft and they also presented that poster in class and teachers
Conclusion:
The interactors actively participated all round the week and they gained knowledge on different topics by searching and making posters and presentations. This also increased their confidence for presentation.
