Project summary:
The event took place by the Karmanasha river close to Little Angels School on April 6th at 1 pm with the arrival of Itr Srijan Shrestha, the event chair and deputy treasurer; Itr Swikriti Khatri, International Understanding chair (IUC) and co event chair; and Itr Kiran Ghale, treasurer. The event formally began at 2 pm after the gathering of volunteers. The treasurer distributed the gloves to the volunteers while the event chair briefly explained the event and assigned areas to clean. The plastics and sacks brought by International Understanding Chair were taken by each volunteer, and the cleaning began. After about an hour of cleaning, everything was gathered and compressed into a bigger sack, which was taken to the nearby dustbin where it would be recycled by the Nepal government. The riverside seemed much cleaner than before. The event came to an end at 3:30 pm after the event chair formally thanked the volunteers for their willingness and hard work towards the project.
Conclusion:
The cleaning event, with the thorough planning of the event chair and International Understanding Chair to gather volunteers, manage the tasks, and the efforts of the volunteers; was a great success. The event helped with the cleanliness of the surroundings as well as to aware the locals to properly manage the garbage. The event was also mostly to commemorate the efforts of our seniors who started the project and helped pass it down to us.
